We are back again at OES in SW Portland, starting at 9:45 with kids and the 5k to follow at 10:15! Every spring, multiple Southwest Portland Faith Organizations and Community Partners join hands to meet the need of hunger specifically, by working to supply Neighborhood House’s ( https://nhpdx.org/ ) Free Food Market, the largest west of the Willamette. This joint effort is known as the Southwest Hope Campaign. Since 2016, Missio Church has organized the SW Hope 5k as a culmination of the greater campaign. What can $1 buy me at a grocery store? One, maybe two, canned goods at the most. For $1, Neighborhood House can buy 4 pounds of food directly from Oregon Food Bank. We quickly realized we could turn a simple canned food drive into a huge tool to empower Neighborhood House and reach hundreds more hungry neighbors. This is where you come in.
