From the Race Organizer
A group of senior high students set out to raise funds for the local animal shelter, Orphans of the Storm. After spending an afternoon there, they saw firsthand how overcrowded the facility was and recognized the urgent need to complete the new shelter so it could open as soon as possible. Partnering with staff and junior high students at Armstrong High School, they formed the Armstrong Riverhawks Rally for Rescues committee. The event is May 22nd, rain or shine, at the Worthington Fire Hall, 171 Linton Alley, Worthington, PA. Along with a 2K/5K , other community-focused activities are planned, including: Car cruise/Social Strut Your Mutt Pet Parade Kickball Tournaments Craft vendors Food Trucks Live entertainment by Armstrong High School Students, including a Taiko performance (Japanese drums) Games Meet & Greet with Orphans of the Storms animals After expenses are paid, all money will be donated to Orphans of the Storm animal shelter of Armstrong County.
