From the Race Organizer
Now in its 5th year, our annual Recovery Awareness Walk will be continuing our 5k Walk/Fun Run options! This event is spearheaded by the Shawano Menominee Resiliency Coalition to help bring awareness and support to those living in and working towards RECOVERY from addiction and mental health struggles in our local communities! In the first two years, the Recovery Celebration & Awareness Walk was able to help raise funds to open the Shawano Recovery Center and the Greater Shawano area's first Women's Recovery Residence! In the third year, funds were utilized to open a new recovery center, Rise Wellness, which is in the development phases of hiring an executive director and offering additional activities and programming to our local communities. This year, funds raised at our event will continue to expand and sustain recovery resources in our local area .
