On Saturday, June 6th of this year, the 18th annual "Jace Race" will take place with the option to participate in person or virtually and hopefully in conjunction with New Sharon's annual Spring Festival. The N.M.E.F. "Jace Race" is in memory of Jace Carrico, a nine-year old boy from New Sharon who fought a brain tumor for five years with strength and perseverance. Jace had a special place in his heart for this community and for the people who poured out their love and support to him and his family. Jace’s love has continued to show through this race. The profits of the race go to North Mahaska Education Foundation, which will be used to help the children of the New Sharon community in numerous ways, such as individual needs in the school and classroom settings, and an annual fine art-based assembly.
