5K for $5K Scholarship Fundraiser About the Event The 5K for $5K Scholarship Fundraiser is a community fun run/walk hosted by the Compton Run Club in Compton, California. Our goal is to raise $10,000 to award two $5,000 scholarships to graduating seniors from Compton Unified School District high schools. Registration includes an event T-shirt, race bib, finisher medal, giveaways, and one raffle entry. Join us for a morning of movement, community, music, vendors, and more—all while supporting the future of Compton! Our Impact To date, the Compton Run Club has raised more than $55,000 in scholarship funds for graduating seniors from Compton Unified School District high schools. Your participation helps us continue investing in the next generation of Compton students. Event Date Saturday, August 22, 2026 Event Location Alma Backyard Farms 801 E. Redondo Beach Blvd. Compton, CA 90220 Estimated Event Timeline 7:30 AM – 8:30 AM: Participant Check-In 8:30 AM – 8:45 AM: Welcome, Announcements, Warm-Up & Stretching 8:45 AM – 10:15 AM: 5K Run/Walk 10:15 AM – 12:30 PM: Post-Race Celebration, Food, Vendors, Raffles, Acknowledgments & Giveaways Event times are approximate and subject to change . Event Check-In Upon arrival, locate the Compton Run Club check-in tent and provide your ID and name to receive your race packet. Race Packets Race packets include your race bib, raffle ticket, and event giveaways. Packets will be available for pickup the morning of the event. Finisher medals will be distributed after participants complete the 5K. T-Shirts An event T-shirt is included with registration. Before completing checkout, please select your preferred T-shirt size. If you do not want a shirt, select "No Shirt" from the drop-down menu. The deadline to guarantee your T-shirt is August 10, 2026. The deadline may be extended; however, T-shirt availability after August 10 is not guaranteed. Parking Free street parking is available along Redondo Beach Boulevard and in the surrounding area near Alma Backyard Farms. Please follow all posted parking signs and restrictions. Restrooms Restrooms will be available on-site for event participants. Hydration Station A hydration station will be available at approximately the half mark of the course. We highly encourage all participants to hydrate before, during, and after the race. Please listen to your body, take breaks when needed, and ask an event volunteer or staff member for assistance if you begin to feel unwell. Virtual Race Virtual participants may complete their 5K anytime between August 22 and August 23, 2026. We encourage you to share your 5K experience on social media by tagging the Compton Run Club in your post or story. Virtual race packets will be mailed during the week following the in-person event. Packet Shipping If you need your race packet shipped, select the appropriate number of packets in the shipping section during registration. You will be prompted to provide your shipping address on the following screen. Raffle Each registered participant will receive one raffle ticket. Please keep your raffle ticket with you for a chance to win prizes during the post-race festivities. 5K Route Start/Finish: Alma Backyard Farms The 5K course will take participants along the following route: Head west on Redondo Beach Boulevard Turn right onto Avalon Boulevard Turn right onto Compton Boulevard Turn right onto Central Avenue Turn right onto Alondra Boulevard Turn right onto Avalon Boulevard Turn right onto Redondo Beach Boulevard Return to Alma Backyard Farms View the 5K route on Strava: Compton Run Club 5k for $5k Route 5K Route Safety Streets along the 5K route will remain open to vehicle traffic. There will be no street closures for this event. Participants must remain aware of their surroundings at all times, follow all traffic laws and traffic signals, and comply with instructions from event staff and volunteers. Participants should use designated sidewalks and pedestrian crossings whenever applicable. Your safety is our priority. Please use caution throughout the course and be mindful of vehicles, cyclists, pedestrians, and other participants. What to Bring To help you have a safe and enjoyable 5K experience, we recommend bringing the following: Comfortable running or walking shoes Weather-appropriate athletic clothing Sunscreen and sun protection, such as a hat or sunglasses Your phone for emergencies, photos, and sharing your race experience Please check the weather forecast before arriving and plan accordingly.
