On October 3, 1993, 19 American soldiers lost their lives during the Battle of Mogadishu — one of the most intense urban combat engagements in U.S. military history. Surrounded and under fire, those soldiers fought through the streets of Somalia to reach their fallen brothers. That desperate run became known as the Mogadishu Mile. Every year on the first Saturday of October, we gather at Queenslake Horse Farm in Georgetown, Kentucky to honor their sacrifice — and to carry their memory forward one mile at a time. WHAT IS THE MOGADISHU MILE CHALLENGE? This is not your average 5K. The Mogadishu Mile Kentucky is a military-style obstacle challenge set across the stunning grounds of Queenslake Horse Farm.
