From the Race Organizer
THE 6TH ANNUAL MOGADISHU MILE KENTUCKY Run. Honor. Remember. Saturday, October 3, 2026 | 8:00 AM Queenslake Horse Farm · 292 Soards Road · Georgetown, Kentucky Registration is FREE. On October 3, 1993, 19 American soldiers lost their lives during the Battle of Mogadishu — one of the most intense urban combat engagements in U.S. military history. Surrounded and under fire, those soldiers fought through the streets of Somalia to reach their fallen brothers. That desperate run became known as the Mogadishu Mile. Every year on the first Saturday of October, we gather at Queenslake Horse Farm in Georgetown, Kentucky to honor their sacrifice — and to carry their memory forward one mile at a time. A 3-PART TRIBUTE CEREMONY Before the challenge begins, we honor the fallen with a solemn, three-part tribute sequence: The Bagpiper: Echoing across the central lake, setting a respectful and reflective tone for the morning. Friesian Horse Procession: A silent equine funeral procession featuring black Friesian horses pulling a caisson and a flag-draped casket across the pastures. Prayer & Reading of Names: A collective prayer and the solemn Roll Call, speaking the names of the 19 Fallen Soldiers of Task Force Ranger aloud nu our distinguished Guest of Honor. WHAT IS THE MOGADISHU MILE CHALLENGE? This is not your average 5K. The Mogadishu Mile Kentucky is a military-style obstacle challenge carrying ammo cans, an m16 (rubber duck), and the American Flag, and set across the 140-acre tactical grounds of Queenslake Horse Farm. Competitors push through a rigorous physical course that tests strength, endurance, and mental toughness. Obstacles include: Tire Flips, Heavy Medicine Ball Slams, Plyometric Box Jumps, Battle Ropes, Hay Bale Carries, Burpees, Heavy Chain Drags, and a Natural Water Crossing. The 19 Permanent Memorials: The physical trail winds past 19 permanent steel memorial stations positioned along a historical limestone wall. Competitors pause at each station to read a fallen soldier's bio and speak their name to ensure they are never forgotten. Team Challenge & M16s: You can compete as an individual or as a team in the all-new Mogadishu Cup divisions! New for teams this year: Teams will carry weighted M16 replicas throughout the course to simulate combat weight, build unit cohesion, and honor the true burden those soldiers carried. Ruck Division: Competitors choosing the Ruck Division carry a mandatory 35-pound pack for the entire duration of the course. NEW IN 2026: G4V MUSIC FESTIVAL & PARTICIPANT PERKS After the challenge, stay for the Guitars for Vets (G4V) Music Festival. We are gathering at the lakeside stage for continuous live music sets featuring performances by military veterans who are graduates of the G4V program, capped off with a headline patriotic concert. To celebrate our participants and foster community, we are offering an incredible lineup of perks, including: Commemorative Tattoos provided on-site by licensed artists Laser Treatments & Massages for post-race recovery Complimentary Food & Drink, featuring hot breakfast, coffee, sizzling steaks, and hydration stations Bourbon Tastings, featuring a special nineteen-bottle collector tribute series This is a full day of remembrance, celebration, and gratitude. WHO SHOULD SIGN UP? Everyone. Veterans, active duty military, first responders, fitness enthusiasts, families, and anyone who wants to honor the fallen. No experience with obstacle races is required. The course is challenging but completable — the point is to show up, give your best, and remember why we run. Warriors on Wheels participants are warmly welcomed.
