This 5K Run will benefit the Tennessee Picnic in honor of the late Dr. Dennis Branch who was a prominent African American Physician in Newport TN for nearly 50 Years. Dr. Branch became nationally known as a guest of honor in Hollywood on the Ralph Edwards Television Show "This Is Your Life" in 1958. Dr. Branch passed away in 1964 leaving his legacy as a prominent Physician. He was 77 years of age at the time of his death. The 5K Run/Walk will take place on Saturday August 1, 2026, 7:30 a.m. at the Newport City Park entrance and proceeds onto the streets of Rankin Rd, runners and walkers will make a turn around on Rankin Rd. ending back into the Park for a total of 3.1 miles. (Signs will mark the route). There will also be Registration at the City Park starting at 6:30 a.m. and ending 7:15 a.m. with the race beginning at 7:30 a.m. (THE EVENT WILL BE CHIP TIMED BY TROJAN TIMING). This is an event for all ages, so bring the whole family! We look forward to seeing you there!!!!
