The Happy’s Running Club (HRC) Happy’s 5000 is back! Once again, we are raising money for Keep Tiger Town Beautiful. These Litter Warriors are dedicated to preserving and enhancing the beauty of Baton Rouge! They keep our streets clean and safe for runners! The Happy’s 5000 is a family fun event to celebrate running, camaraderie, and Baton Rouge! After the fast 5K, run or watch the highly competitive Beer Mile and festive costume contest! Then, enjoy some southern cooking and tasty beverages! PACKET PICKUP will be available at one of our great sponsors, Varsity Sports (2055 Perkins Road, Baton Rouge, LA 70808) on Thursday 16 July from 4-6 PM and Friday 17 July from 3-6 PM. Race day packet pickup is also available 3 - 4:30pm. Please try to pick up your packet on Thursday or Friday. Bibs and timing compliments of Relief Restoration. FINISH FEST: After the race, use your race bib tickets to enjoy food and drinks in Town Square from the race vendors! Pastalaya will be served by Tim David due to contributions from BROC. Bananas and oranges will also be available from Capitol City Produce! Cans of beer and a selection of non-beer options (for our gluten free friends!) will be available from the beer tent with tickets from your race bib, compliments of Centerline Surveying. Water will be also be available. The food and drink are for runners only. AFTER PARTY: O’Hara’s Irish pub (136 Third St.) will take over after our festivities end (~8:00PM). All runners with your bib will get 2 for 1 beer prices and $5 Irish Car Bombs. Also, the band "Blue Crab Redemption" will be there from 7PM-11PM! In the event that the Happy’s 5000 5K and beer mile is postponed or canceled by the Organizer or by order or request of any court, the city, parish, state or federal government for any reason whatsoever, including but not limited to any fortuitous event, then the Happy’s 5000 fees remain non-refundable. No dogs in the race or the start/finish area. No participants with leg or foot casts. No exceptions to above rules. Beer mile specific rules: Two heats will take place: a competitive heat and non-competitive/costume heat for the beer mile. Each competitor drinks four cans or bottles of beer and runs four laps around the course (start with chugging a beer, then run a lap, then beer, then lap, then beer, then lap, then beer, then lap - finish).
