Welcome to the High Street Mile More Than a Race. A Newburyport Tradition. For more than 40 years, the High Street Mile has been Newburyport's signature race morning during Yankee Homecoming. Every summer, runners of all ages gather on historic High Street to celebrate competition, family, community, and one of the North Shore's favorite traditions before the annual Yankee Homecoming Parade. Some runners come to chase a personal best. Some are toeing the starting line for the very first time. Many families return year after year, watching their children grow, celebrating milestones, and creating memories that last far beyond race day.
