This is our 2nd annual Tiny Footprints Remembrance 5K! Our first year was incredibly successful and we can't wait to see the turn out this year! In May of 2023, we unexpectedly and tragically lost one of our twin babies, Piper, in utero at 31 weeks. I was placed on constant monitoring and bedrest until our survivor, Juniper, was safely delivered 10 days following and spent 29 days in the NICU. This pain was and is incomprehensible, and no parent should ever have to go through it. Sadly, the rates of miscarriages, neonatal loss, and infant loss are higher than most think, and it's something that isn't often talked about, as grieving, especially grieving a child, is a taboo subject in our culture. When we were going through this nightmare, it helped to have support of individuals who have had similar experiences as well support from the staff at the hospital, both in labor and delivery and in the NICU.
