Wiener Dog Dash 2026 — Albuquerque, NM

Celebrate Oktoberfest with our 3rd annual Wiener Dog Dash and costume contest! This fun event will take place at Canteen Brewhouse 2381 Aztec Rd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87107 on Saturday, October 3rd from 1-3pm. Whether your Dachshund is a racing champion or just loves to strut their stuff, this event is all about fun and community. Grab your pup, your friends, and join us for some lighthearted competition and Oktoberfest cheer! Registration is required t o participate in this event. Day of registration will not be available for the Wiener Dog Dash . Registration- $30 per wiener dog, which includes the Wiener Dog Dash, a beer, a hot dog, dog treats, and swag. Prizes for will be awarded for the top 3 quickest wiener dogs! Check in for the Wiener Dog Dash- Saturday, October 3rd from 12-12:45pm. Details will be emailed prior to the event, but you must check in to receive your goodies and heat number. Races Begin at 1pm. Costume Contest Judging- Judging will take place after all of the wiener dogs have raced. Prizes will be awarded for the best dressed wiener dogs post-race. Participation in the costume contest is optional and dogs may remove their costumes before they race. We will allow dogs to put on their costumes prior to the judging. WIENER DOG RACE RULES All dogs must be well behaved, up to date on vaccinations, and healthy. All dogs must be at least 6 months old and have received all of their shots. In celebration of Oktoberfest and German heritage, dogs must be a Dachshund or dachshund mix that displays the characteristics of a Dachshund: floppy eared hound with a long, low body type. The Wiener Dog Dash will take place on a closed racetrack that is approximately 20 yards long. Each heat will consist of 5 or 6 dogs and the fastest wiener in each heat will advance to the final. NO FOOD or TREATS are allowed in the race area! You may bring your dog’s favorite toy, ball, or stuffed animal to entice your dog from the finish line. NO Flashlights or laser pointers allowed. NO throwing toys or balls down the racetrack. All dogs must be on a leash when not participating in their race. Owners are required to clean up after their pet. Each dog must have two people to participate in the race. One as a releaser and one to catch the dog at the finish line. Only dogs participating in the race are allowed in the beer garden before and during the race. This is a fun family friendly event to celebrate our love of wieners! Any participant (dog or owner) that isn't following these rules will be disqualified. We can't wait to celebrate the fastest and best dressed wieners! **Anyone drinking alcohol must be 21. Anyone under 21 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian while in the beer garden and brewery. Enjoy responsibly.
