Race Weekend in Nashville: A Guide to Hotels, Logistics, and What to Know Before You Book

Nashville is one of the few American cities where the race itself competes for atmosphere with what surrounds it. The St. Jude Rock ‘n’ Roll Nashville Marathon runs past Broadway honky-tonks with live bands at nearly every mile marker, and the post-race concert at the finish outside Nissan Stadium is a legitimate event on its own terms. That energy makes Nashville a destination race for runners who want the full experience, and the city’s hotel and hospitality infrastructure is built for it. For Hyrox athletes, Nashville is about to become a significant stop on the North American calendar as well.

The Race Scene

The St. Jude Rock ‘n’ Roll Nashville Marathon, sometimes also known as the Country Music Marathon, is one of the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series races and includes the option to run a full marathon, half marathon, 10K, or 5K. In 2026, the marathon and half marathon start at 7:20 a.m. at 8th Avenue and Broadway, with 5K and 10K runners lining up at 8th Avenue and Demonbreun at 6:30 a.m. The route passes Broadway’s neon lights, Music Row’s legendary studios, The Gulch, and the Country Music Hall of Fame, with runners finishing at Nissan Stadium, home of the Tennessee Titans.

Later in the year, the Nashville Half Marathon runs in October, starting and finishing at First Horizon Park. And for functional fitness athletes, Nashville is now on the Hyrox map. Hyrox has confirmed a Nashville stop at the Music City Center from December 10 to 13, 2026, marking the city’s debut on the North American Hyrox calendar.

Where to Stay

The Rock ‘n’ Roll Nashville start is at 8th Avenue and Broadway, squarely in the heart of downtown. Hotels on Broadway, in the Gulch, or in the SoBro neighborhood keep you within walking distance of both the start line and the finish at Nissan Stadium. This is a rare case where staying downtown makes logistical sense in every direction.

The Music City Center, which will host Hyrox in December, is also in SoBro, adjacent to the convention district. Hotels within a half mile of the convention center on that end of downtown are well-positioned for Hyrox athletes. The Omni Nashville, the JW Marriott, and several other full-service hotels sit within easy walking distance.

Nashville hotel rates have climbed significantly over the past several years as the city’s tourism profile has expanded. Race weekend rates, particularly for the Rock ‘n’ Roll event in late April, are elevated but not as extreme as peak bachelorette season weekends. Still, book early.

Getting There and Around

Nashville International Airport (BNA) is about 8 miles from downtown. Rideshare is the standard option and runs $20 to $30 depending on demand. A bus route connects the airport to downtown but adds travel time and requires planning. Most athletes traveling to Nashville rent a car or rely on rideshare for the duration of the trip.

On Rock ‘n’ Roll race morning, road closures through downtown are extensive. Nashville Metro Police Department issues road closure notices covering Woodland Street and several key downtown corridors starting before 6 a.m. Athletes staying in walkable proximity to the start are at a meaningful advantage over anyone trying to drive in that morning. Post-race, Broadway and the surrounding blocks are crowded with finishers, family, and the standard Saturday crowd. Have a meetup plan established before you cross the finish.

What to Know Before You Book

Late April in Nashville is prime race weather by regional standards, typically 50 to 65 degrees at the start. Humidity is lower than it will be in summer and the spring air is generally comfortable for distance running. The tradeoff is that late April is also a peak weekend in Nashville for general tourism, so competition for hotels extends well beyond the race crowd.

Nashville is legitimately loud late into the night on Broadway and in the honky-tonk district. If you’re staying in that area, earplugs are not optional for the night before the race. Hotels a few blocks south in SoBro or the Gulch are close enough to be convenient but far enough from the noise to sleep. The Nashville Half Marathon’s website notes this directly, recommending accommodations close to Nashville attractions but away from the late-night Broadway noise.

For Hyrox in December, Nashville’s Music City Center is a newer, well-configured venue. December temperatures are typically 35 to 50 degrees, which is meaningfully cooler than what most fall Hyrox venues offer. Travel logistics in December also mean watching for holiday travel demand if your race dates fall close to the week of Christmas.

Find the full Tennessee race calendar for all events in the state. Road runners should visit marathon hotels and half marathon hotels for additional resources, and Hyrox athletes planning a Nashville trip can browse Hyrox hotels for guidance on that event format.
