Kick off Independence Day a day early in Marengo, IA with a 5K on a flat course on city streets and graveled trails in Gateway Park. Plan to stay the rest of the day in Marengo with activities all day concluding with fireworks at dusk. The race will begin on the north side of the city square Anyone wanting a shirt must signed up by 11:59 PM on Monday, June 15. After that, shirts are not guaranteed. Awards will be given after the race at the bandstand in the city square. All proceeds from this event go to Leanne's School of Dance in Marengo to help defray the costs for dancers to travel to New York City to perform in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in 2029.
